Replica Windows
Bespoke Replica Steel Windows
Our philosophy is to preserve and restore original steel windows wherever possible. On rare occasions the deterioration has gone beyond practical repair, through extensive corrosion, structural failure, fire damage or the loss of significant sections of the original steelwork. In those cases we manufacture replica steel windows that match the originals exactly, at our factory in Small Dole.

We manufacture replica SMW, W10, W20, W30 and W40 frame windows. For modern requirements in older buildings we also make W50 TB windows. These are deeper, so they include a thermal break and take VIG units for exceptional U values, while still matching heritage windows.
English Heritage has commissioned, inspected and approved our in-situ restoration, ex-situ restoration and new replica window methods on listed building projects.
Designed Around the Original
Every replica begins with a detailed survey of the existing windows. We record the overall dimensions and opening configurations, steel profiles and section sizes, glazing bar layouts and sightlines, opening mechanisms and furniture, and the historic manufacturing details. Where original drawings are unavailable, we work from site measurements and surviving examples, so the finished window reflects the original design.
Made in Our Own Factory
Each window is fabricated, welded, assembled and inspected in our own factory using high quality steel sections. We recreate fixed and opening lights, traditional glazing bars, curved and shaped frames, decorative steelwork, bespoke opening mechanisms and period ironmongery details.
Where appropriate we can add modern upgrades such as concealed draught sealing, improved locking and vacuum insulated glass, so the windows meet current performance expectations without losing their original appearance.
Built to Last
Every new frame goes through our corrosion protection process: hot zinc metal spray, followed by an architectural grade polyester powder coating in virtually any RAL or British Standard colour. Stainless steel fixings are used where appropriate. The result is a window that looks like the original and is protected for decades.
Suitable for Heritage Buildings
Our replica windows are made to be sympathetic to listed buildings, conservation areas and historically significant properties, helping architects, conservation officers and building owners preserve the character of the building. Replacement is always the last resort. When it becomes necessary, our aim is a replica that honours the original and performs for the future.
