In-Situ Refurbishments cause minimal disruption and can be carried out far quicker than Ex-Situ Options. We provide both external only and internal and external in-situ refurbishment options depending on the condition of your windows and doors.

All work is carried out on site using our Heritage England and SPAB approved techniques to return your windows to a serviceable condition.

We repair or replace window furniture, hinges and glazing. We have a large range of replacement ironmongery and add-on furniture in various colours for clients to choose from. These include:
  • – Stays
  • – Handles
  • – Hinges
  • – Bolts
  • – Openers
  • – Restrictors

From leaded light repairs, standard glazing replacements to thermal glazing upgrades, SFWR Ltd. have a host of options to suit your project needs.

Ex-Situ Services
Ex-Situ

Ex-Situ Refurbishments are recommended when the condition of the windows or doors are too severe to be repaired In-Situ or if clients are looking for a particular finish.

We remove and board the units, taking them back to our workshop for repairs and shot shotblasting. Our finish always includes an anti-corrosive coating and either a hand-paint or powder coat finish.

As with our In-Situ works, we follow Historic England and SPAB best practices for all of our Ex-Situ options.

All window furniture will be removed in the workshop prior to refurbishing the units. We will repair furniture where required before re-fitting it, but can also replace/upgrade or add additional furniture where required.

We remove all glazing before the units are refurbished in our workshop. Clients have the choice from a range of replacement options including; leaded lights, float glass, slimline glazing (where possible), slimline heritage glazing and heritage glass.

Replica Services

We manufacture bespoke steel frame profiles to match the existing windows and doors within your property, keeping the aesthetic the same.

We also have a wide range of steel frame profiles which we use to manufacture new windows and doors for clients.

New window furniture and its configuration can be chosen by the client, creating a bespoke unit that satisfies their needs and requirements.

Clients have the choice from a range of glazing options including; leaded lights, float glass, slimline glazing (where possible), slimline heritage glazing and heritage glass. Please note that depending on the profile, some of the above may not be compatible.

Surveys

We carry out a range of steel and cast-iron window and door surveys, but our most common options are RAG surveys or Remedial surveys. Should you have particular needs regarding your project, our team can tailor the survey to accommodate these.

The cost of our surveys depends on location and size of the project. We normally charge on an hourly basis, but can give a relatively accurate indication upon request.

RAG surveys provide clients with an understanding of associated risks due the deterioration of their historic windows and indicate where action is required.

Remedial surveys are in depth surveys which outline unit details, the condition and recommended works of each unit, enabling it to be used for tender or planning purposes.
